TO STUDY CORRELATION OF INSULIN RESISTANCE WITH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN CHILDREN / ADOLESCENTS

چکیده
Objective: IR is a pathological condition strongly associated with obesity and involved in the pathogenesis of T2D. The treatment insulin resistant children firstly targeted to lifestyle interventions. Homeostasis model assessment resistance (HOMA-IR) may be useful for early evaluation teenagers could have long-term benefit preventive diagnostic therapeutic intervention. Method: A cross-sectional study was performed on 80 adolescents age 5 14 years, 40 them were apparently healthy Body mass index (BMI) < 85th percentile 16 overweight BMI>85th below 95th 24 obese > percentile. Physical activity classified basis WHO guidelines. Out 33 active 47 less active. After overnight fasting 8 hr, blood samples taken serum glucose analysed. Insulin assessed by homeostasis assessment. Result Conclusion: Our results revealed altered values HOMA-IR high BMI mean decrease physical activity. We concluded that more studies should conducted focus preventing identifying risk factors children.

Background: Nutritional health and adequate physical activity (PA), especially in childhood and grow periods, have a substantial role in health. This study assessed the association of dietary behaviors (main courses and snacks intake) with PA in children and adolescents. Materials and Methods: Using multistage random cluster sampling method, a representative sample of 14,880 school students wer...

Anthropometric measurements were performed (weight, height, and waist circumference) and clinical (gender, age, pubertal stage, and degree of obesity) and biochemical (glu...
متن کاملPredictors of Insulin Resistance in Children versus Adolescents with Obesity
Introduction Obesity is a risk factor to develop metabolic syndrome (MetS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Insulin resistance (IR) plays a major part in both. With increasing incidence of childhood obesity, this retrospective study aimed to identify predictors of IR in children/adolescents with obesity to optimize screening for IR. Method Patients aged ≥ 2-≤ 18 years with obesity (BMI-SD...

CONTEXT Exercise training is associated with improved insulin sensitivity (SI), but the potential impact of habitual, nonvigorous activity is uncertain. OBJECTIVE To determine whether habitual, nonvigorous physical activity, as well as vigorous and overall activity, is associated with better SI. DESIGN A multicultural epidemiologic study. SETTING The Insulin Resistance Atherosclerosis Stu...
